Also called jute, and occasionally called burlap; This incredibly versatile and breathable product has countless applications. Its primary use is in the building and construction field, where it shields mortar and brickwork from frost during the colder months. It is especially favored for lime mortar, where it provides necessary protection against weather conditions to allow for proper carbonation. In the summer, hessian can be dampened to prevent concrete or cement from drying too quickly.
